The name Wajee, derived from Arabic, means «happy,» which aligns perfectly with the cheerful and inclusive spirit of #WCGR24.

However, the 2024 Wapuu introduces a modern twist by combining 2019 elements with classic WordPress Wapuu elements. The Wapuu’s yellow body, a staple of the mascot, has been preserved and works seamlessly with the event’s color scheme for this year. This choice creates a sense of continuity, tying the mascot back to the recognizable and iconic design language of WordPress while ensuring it feels fresh and relevant to this year’s event.

The 2024 Wapuu, much like its predecessor, embodies the fusion of Granada’s local identity with the global WordPress community.
